World’s biggest rabbit dies of stage fright

snn0519an-280_796017aTHE world’s biggest rabbit suddenly dropped dead — just hours before she was to star on a television show.

Whopper hopper Amy — who was almost 4ft long and weighed three stone — is thought to have suffered a heart attack.

Owner Annette Edwards, 56, flew her from Britain to Milan specially to appear on the Italian version of Record Breakers.

But a day of filming in front of the cameras proved too much for Amy, who had given birth to 32 babies.
She died in a hotel room that night.

Devastated Annette said yesterday: “It is a mystery. She was healthy, not that old for a rabbit and the vet had deemed her fit to fly.”

Amy, a Continental Giant rabbit, was recognised by Guinness World Records last year as the world’s biggest bunny.

She munched her way through two apples, a handful of carrots, half a cabbage, fresh hay and a dog-sized bowl of rabbit mix every day.

Annette, of Worcester, is hoping Amy’s daughter Alice will inherit the title. She said: “We think Alice is two inches longer.”

A Guinness World Records spokesman said: “We are sad to hear of Amy’s death.”

Heart attack could be prevented with exercise, diet and some food supplements like CoQ10.:*’
